INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
In response to the Omicron variant, Ecuador has updated its entry requirements for international travelers. Travelers arriving into the Quito or Guayaquil international airports are now required to present ALL of the following:
- COVID-19 vaccination card (accepted only if the vaccination cycle is complete and at least 14 days have passed since the 2nd/complete dose)
- Copy of the negative results of a RT-PCR (reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction) test that was taken within 72 hours of their arrival
- A declaration of traveler health (1 per family; available HERE on the Ministry of Health website as a PDF to print and sign)
Note: Travelers between the ages of 2 and 15 do not require a vaccination card to enter mainland Ecuador but must present a negative RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours of their arrival (more stringent requirements are currently enforced to enter the Galapagos)
As an alternative to the above entry requirements, travelers entering Ecuador who were previously diagnosed as COVID-19 positive may present a medical certificate from their country of origin attesting to their recovery and current good health, so long as onset of the COVID-19 symptoms occurred more than 30 days prior to arrival in Ecuador.
Airlines are required to verify at the point of origin that the passenger has a completed vaccination card and a negative PCR test prior to boarding. Note: It is very important that the paper with your test results specify that it was a PCR test or else it may not be accepted. Rapid antigen tests will not be accepted.
Effective December 1, travelers whose “point of origin, stopover, or transit” is South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, and Namibia are prohibited from entering Ecuador.
Anyone presenting symptoms of COVID upon arrival in Ecuador is required to take a rapid antigen test at the airport. If the test result is positive, they will be required to self-isolate for 10 days in an authorized hotel even if the they have presented a negative PCR test at the airport of entry.

*It is important to note that the US government is currently requiring a negative COVID test taken within 3 days prior to your return flight to the US if you are fully vaccinated (or within 1 day of your return if you are not fully vaccinated).
